Article of the Week Differentiated Lessons – Teacher Feedback:
- “I have used this resource in both grade 5/6 and 7/8. It is a great way to get students engaged in current events, as well as thinking critically about what they are reading. Students are also given the opportunity to infer/predict what they think the article will be about, as well as demonstrate their ability to provide a brief summary of the article.”
- “We are currently using this a weekly basis in the classroom. Students find it straightfoward which allows them to work more independently. I can see them using the techniques taught in a variety of ways in their other reading.”
- “This is an excellent resource – engaging and well organized. I enjoyed the planning sheets, differentiation options, and rubrics included.”
- “I liked this resource because I can use it for students with learning disabilities and demonstrate my thinking step by step. The graphic organizers are easy to use and well organized.”
- “Can’t wait to continue using the Article of the Week in my classroom. Students were highly engaged this week, and I love the digital access. Makes using a breeze! Also love that they can be used for any article, as my board as different subscriptions to online resources. Thanks!”
- “Such a well-made resource! I used this as a weekly or bi-weekly literacy center in a grade 7 class. Started with the simpler graphic organizers, and slowly worked out way up to more complex as the year went on. Students found the activity easy-to-follow and engaging. I sometimes assigned an article, and sometimes let them choose. Used this in a distance-learning classroom and it was perfect!”
