As a teacher, I found that I love teaching Geography. I have created some engaging lessons for teachers who are required to teach these curriculums in school.
When creating lessons, I think about how students learn best and what activities will engage them in their learning. These lesson plans are not worksheets. They are a combination of interactive activities, videos, readings, and inquiry assignments.
Why should students learn about geography in middle school?
Geography is an important subject for students to learn and understand. Not only is it beneficial for a well-rounded education and future endeavours, but it also:
- Enhances critical thinking skills
- Teaches students about environmental awareness
- Helps students understand the world
- Increases the understanding of spatial thinking
When learning geography, students learn to read, analyze, and understand maps, which can be beneficial in future careers and help students with their critical thinking. Geography is also connected with other subjects, such as science and history, and can help students relate to the world around them.
Learning about the world around them will help students become better global citizens and understand other cultures. Learning about topics such as climate change, natural resources, and sustainability will help students become environmentally responsible.
