The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi (Historical Fiction)

Lakshmi escapes an abusive marriage at seventeen. She moves to the city and creates a new life of herself as a henna artist. She works hard to maintain her reputation and career. Her husband finds her one day and brings her a sister she did not know existed.

Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin (Romance)

In this modern retelling of Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice, Ayesha and Khalid must put aside their initial thoughts of each other and work towards discovering who each other really is.

 

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle (Romance)

Dannie Kohan goes to bed content that her life is turning out just how she wants it until she wakes up five years in the future with a different life. She spends only 1 hour in the future before she is returned to her life that she knows but can’t forget the time she spent in the future.

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune (Romance)

I hope that everyone experiences love that leaves them breathless at least once in their lives. Percy has loved Sam for almost her entire life. She knows that leaving him was a huge mistake. Life circumstances throw them back together – will their connection rekindle? Can love come back once it’s lost? I love that this book is set in Ontario and references both rural and urban areas.

One Night on the Island by Josie Silver (Romance)

Is it possible for two strangers sharing a cottage to fall in love? Of course – but their journey back to each other after their separation is a great part of this novel.
