6 end of the school year activities for your middle school classroom.
It is FINALLY June.
For some of you, this means summer vacation and for others like me, it means we have finally reached the last weeks of school. If you are enjoying summer vacation be sure to read Summer Relaxation Strategies for Teachers and take part in my FREE Teacher Self-Care Challenge. For those of you still in school keep reading for the engaging end of the year resources and advice below.
As the school year comes to an end, it is important to continue with your regular program. Where possible add in some fun activities to keep school engaging for your students.
I always continue teaching real “curriculum” until the last week of school and then I schedule mock exams to help my students prepare for high school. (We don’t have final exams in middle school where I teach.) After the exams are finished, I break out the fun end of the year activities such as the ones found in my End of the Year Activities Bundle. If you are permitted to show a movie, wait until the last week of school or the novelty will be worn off.
Other lessons that students enjoy at this time of year are my media literacy/consumer awareness lessons. These can be aligned with your listening/oral communication or writing curriculum expectations/standards as each lesson contains a video, listening comprehension sheets and a writing activity.
These end of the school year lessons contain 6 different no prep (just photocopy) activities you can do with your students during the last few weeks of school. These lessons are meaningful and will help your students stay engaged during those final weeks.
Students will work on these end of the year printable activities: Letter Writing Activity, School Year Reflections Memory Book, Read It Book Recommendations, Six-Word Memoirs, Thank You Cards and a Summer Creative Writing Assignment.
These lessons are Google Classroom™️ compatible with individual PDFs and Google Slides™️ graphic organizers included.
